Commons Ford Austin Portrait Session | College Station Portrait Photographer
Okayyyy okay okay. Wow. This session with Lauren was truly magical. Lauren wanted a portrait session to mark a new season for her, to celebrate the brightness of what's ahead in her life. Well, over the course of the session we slowly found more and more light, and by the end of the night, we were both basking in the orange glow of an October sunset, grateful for the walk into the evening light and the hope of the future!
Getting married soon? Graduating college?
I'm now booking 2019 weddings and senior portraits!

Why has it been so crazy rainy this fall?! Do you remember a September and October that have been wetter? I certainly don't! Despite this, I have been so lucky with my sessions scheduled this fall! I haven't had to reschedule one! In fact, on the way to this senior portrait session with Isabel, I was driving into a BIG black cloud of un-fun looking weather. So I said a prayer, asked for perfect grey skies, and what do you know - 10 minutes later I laughing with Isabel snapping her senior photos under a blanket of the softest grey clouds!
Isabel is just c o o l . As a senior in high school, she really seems to know who she is and what she's about. Do you remember being a senior in high school? It's a lot of pressure. It's a lot of work. It's just a lot. But sweet Isabel wears it all with a big smile and without a chip on her shoulder.
Do you remember writing essays for college applications? Ya, me neither. But Isabel is right in the middle of that and one prompt required her to develop and write about an invention. Uhhh, okay no big deal. To her it was easy enough though, and she began to tell me about her plan to make school hallways safer and more efficient with right of way rules like on roads! Can you imagine how much less stressful schools and malls would be if we actually implemented Isabel's invention?! Seriously sometimes I can't even go to malls because the chaos is too much. I'm hoping this university accepts Isabel and then hires her to go across the globe implementing her awesome idea.
Isabel is just a beautiful soul, inside and out. Walking around the park with her, on what turned out to be the most beautiful morning, was such a delight. And goodness, those baby blues will turn any grey day right side up.

On a Saturday that was forecast as RAIN ALL DAY, this ended up being one of my favorite senior sessions ever! The sky decided to take a nap, and snuggled itself into a beautiful blanket of thick white clouds. The temperature hovered kindly at 83 degrees. And the company? Precious.
This is Victoria. She's precious.
This session was so fun! I about died at that first spot. It had all my favorite colors and she just popped right off the background. But turns out I'd about die at every spot, because they were all so equally beautiful!!
Victoria selected a Senior Portrait package that included a FaceTime styling consult with me (which was so fun!) and when I saw this little blue romper I about passed out. That color with her red hair?! Are you kidding me?!?!
Senior year is just so crazy. Students are often under a lot of pressure applying for college and figuring out what's next, while parents are understandably emotional because their baby is about to fly the nest! I love using my senior portrait sessions as an opportunity to create a space for my clients and their parents to just slow down, have fun, and celebrate the special season they're in. Part of this experience is attention to detail. One of my favorite quotes that I've committed to memory and recite daily is the following:
The quality of life is in proportion, always, to the capacity for delight. The capacity for delight is the gift of paying attention.
- Julia Cameron
This is why I love capturing the little details of every senior I get to photograph. These sessions are about so much more than a 4x6 print that goes in a senior announcement in early April (though those are special!). It's an experience. It's about drinking in every single moment, every precious detail of this beautiful gift of life. It's about paying attention to all the vibrant colors, the wind, the birds in trees, and the old school Taylor Swift beats vibing from my iPhone during this session making Victoria dance and laugh! These senior portrait sessions are about paying attention, about
d e l i g h t !
And WHAT can you do but explode in d a n c i n g d e l i g h t when you find a wall this epic while you're wearing a perfect blue romper?!?!!
I think I will take a brief moment now and just say this: Austin, I love you. I may life in College Station now, but you'll always feel like home. You're fun and pretty and abounding in outdoor escapes that grew my faith and imagination growing up. I'll always love you, no matter how much you change and no matter how horrific your traffic will be. You'll always hold a special feeling in my heart, like the one you gave me during this session.
The package Victoria selected included endless outfits! She chose three that could not have been more pretty or flattering. This embroidered top may be my favorite piece though, especially paired with those pink kicks! I'm allllll about pink.
I always like to try and grab a shot with mom too! All in the name of delight. This is a moment and memory to hold close forever!
I just feel like I need to interject a warning here because this next photo might be the most precious thing you've ever seen.
Victoria's package also included something really fun to add a little dazzle to her senior portrait session delight! String lights!!
Victoria, thank you for choosing me to be your senior portrait photographer! I had THE MOST FUN dancing around Austin with you!!!!

When was the last time you heard someone use the word "affable"? Well, you're about to hear it because that's exactly what Ben is - affable. This is the most kind-hearted, fun, amiable senior guy out there. He's incredibly easy to talk to and so much fun to spend time with. Honestly, as a married woman in my twenties who spends her spare time home decorating and snuggling a bunny rabbit and taking baths anytime it gets below 80 degrees outside, my ability to relate to senior guys is pretty low. But that really didn't matter when I went over to Ben's home on Lake Travis to take his senior portraits. What you see is what you get with this one. Doesn't his smile just make you warm and happy inside? That's exactly what it's like to spend time with him. I left this session with a smile on my face, thanking God I get to do this for a living. Congrats Ben!
Get ready to get sick of the word dreamy, because this senior portrait session was DREAMY DREAMY DREAMY DREAMY.
We danced to Ed Sheeran. We laughed until our bellies ached. We frolicked in wild flowers. We found golden hour. We let our hair down. We enjoyed succulents in abundance. I accidentally dressed like a cowboy.
Ashley and her sister Abbey (a cute friend of mine from Camp Allen) drove to Navasota for Ashley's senior portrait session and basically made March 31, 2018 a spring day never to be forgotten. I don't need to elaborate any more - I'll let the photos do the talking.
Congrats cute Ash! You and Abbey come to my neck of the woods any time and we'll do it again, but next time we'll step it up even more with BEYONCE and BLUEBELL, what!?!?!
I really hit the jackpot with getting to photograph some amazing senior guys this spring! Jakob's session was such a joy. If people don't want anything to do with high school guys, thinking that they're anything but good company, it's because they haven't met Jakob. This young man is kind, respectful, thoughtful, and sweet. He was so patient and enjoyable during our session, even though spending an hour taking photos was probably low on his list of interests for that day. And at the end of it, I know he actually had a great time! We walked around Bull Creek, enjoying the amazing landscape of one of Austin's finest public parks and had great conversation ranging from his hopes and dreams to his plans for next year and everything in between. I'm always amazed when I meet seniors who plan to pursue a major that will involve math and science, and let's just say that this smart cookie may be helping you with your taxes one day... or helping me for that matter! Actually that would be great. Jakob, call me when you graduate and you can use your awesome brain to assist me with all things numbers and spread sheets! Congrats!
You know those people who are just easy to be around? The kind who genuinely want to get to know you and ask you a lot of thoughtful questions about yourself? The kind who leave you feeling refreshed and cared for after spending time with them? Bailey is one of those. He walked right up to me in those fresh kicks of his and introduced himself with a handshake. During our session, I learned that he's a tender heart willing to put others first, but he's also got the swagger of someone who knows who he is (which is pretty rare at 18). He's humble and interested in others and he's got a good head on his shoulders. We had a great time walking around Bull Creek in Austin on what happened to be one of the prettiest March days you could ask for. Wherever Bailey ends up and whoever he ends up meeting along the way, I've got a good feeling he'll be leaving the positive, uplifting impression he left on me. And he'll probably be sporting some sweet kicks while he's doing it, too. Congrats Bailey!
You'd never know it was f r e e z i n g cold the morning of Bailey's senior portrait session in College Station on A&M campus because she handled it like a champ! Bailey, her mom Kris, and I had a lovely time walking around the buildings on campus, picking fun backgrounds and enjoying the sun when it finally found us! There's just something about being on a college campus, you know? It just makes you feel good. And maybe read a book too? I loved it and I loved this fun session! Congrats Bailey!!
