Emily Boone Photography celebrates one year of full time photography!
One year ago tomorrow is when I jumped off the cliff to do this thing for real and go full time photo! At the time I really had no idea what “starting a business” meant and actually didn’t even know that that’s what I was doing haha. But in retrospect that’s what happened. Yes, starting a business is affirming and sure, I’m excited I made it this far and big YES, I am 100% extremely grateful for every person who has trusted me to document their lives so far. But what I’m most happy with is what God has done in my heart in regards to FEAR with doing this whole business/full time photo deal. Choosing to do full time photography meant a full on assault on fear, my weakness jugular, if you will. I learned a few years back that I’m afraid of failure, and that a lot of my life choices were influenced by that fear. But not this one. I’ve failed a lot in the past year and it’s been AWESOMEEEEE because I haven’t stopped! (And I did also win a lot too :) I’m so grateful because this has meant God is growing my strength to choose faith over fear, and that in and of itself is what I want most in my life. Every photo I post is a reminder that I’m doing something I never guessed I’d ever do (God’s plan is always better than ours) and a reminder of how grateful I am to get to do it faithfully instead of fearfully. So yay, Emily Boone Photography is growing up, but bigger yay that God is growing me.
To share a little more, I've always loved photography. I was the girl who took 7,000 'artsy' pictures of flowers and printed them for my room. Whenever I went on an adventure, my camera, be it my old film camera in my younger years, a digital camera in my teens, or an iPhone when I finally got one, went with me. But now, after doing this professionally for a full year, I have a whole new love for photography. Shooting weddings is so fun. Working with people is a joy. Giving the happiest gift of special memories to people makes me so happy. And aside from that, I just love the art of creating beauty. There is nothing more satisfying than lining up a shot and it turning out better than I hoped. It's what keeps me growing and always striving to be better and better. So I thought it would be fun to share just a few of my favorite photos from this first year of being a full time photographer at Emily Boone Photography!
Warning: if I selected all the highlights, this blog post would never end, haha. So I've chosen shots from January-August of 2018 that reflect my style in it's truest form. I am a natural light photographer, and I am inspired by authentic, organic moments captured in a fine art photography manner. I do not shoot film, but I love the light, rich look of film and strive to create digital photos that are true to life with a touch of film photography inspiration. So here are a few shots that represent Emily Boone Photography's best moments from January-August of 2018! Ps. Click the names above each set of photos if you'd like to see the full blog post! Also, I've only included sessions in this post where my clients have received their full gallery back. I'm sitting on several sessions/weddings that I'm IN LOVE WITH, but they are not in this post because my clients haven't seen their full gallery yet :)
