AH! So this one is special.
Actually, they're truly all special. Being part of someone's wedding day is an incredible honor. But this one is special because I've known Shelby for a long time. Since I became a wedding photographer, I always dreamt of shooting her wedding. When I started doing weddings she wasn't even dating anyone yet, I just knew that one day I wanted to shoot her wedding! So when she got engaged and told me she and Ben wanted me to shoot their Austin Hill Country wedding, I was so thrilled!
Like I said, I've known Shelby for a long time. I'm not even sure how long. But our relationship has so many layers, a favorite of mine being that we worked at a church together for one summer. She basically kept me sane and alive that summer. Shelby is the kind of person you can always count on. So when I heard she had found a guy she could always count on, I was over the moon overjoyed for her!
Watching my sweet friend go through her wedding day and getting to document it for her was so amazing. She was just g l o w i n g with joy all day!!!
Shelby had her mom and Ben's mom help her put her dress on. It was such a special way to honor both of these women how are such a big part of her life.
Ben and Shelby opted not to do a first look. So instead, they exchanged notes to one another.
This was one of those wedding day moments you never forget: a mom telling her daughter how proud she is of her, how she's prayed for this day, how she's ready for marriage.
Shelby also did bridesmaid and dad reveals. The two reactions were as sweet as they were different.
These sweet friends also had note for Shelby to encourage her on her wedding day!
Then the sweetest Father-Daughter reveal!
UGH isn't Shelby precious?!
Meanwhile, back with the guys, Ben is really enjoying the hill country escape of their venue (a gorgeous private home in Austin) by chilling out by the pool!
But pool time had to end eventually and it was time for the men to dapper themselves up.
Shelby wrote a note for Ben every day in a journal, the final note being one she wrote for their wedding day. I love this idea, and it's actually what I did for Kenton when we got married!
Everyone is dressed and ready and excited for some of the happiest photos of the day: bridal party pics! This group of ladies and gentlemen were so fun to hang out with! I didn't want this part of the day to end because they were so fun to photograph!
Gotta love a group of rambunctious groomsmen.
These wedding days really fly by. Soon it was time to pray and prep for the ceremony!
They did it! Happy happy happy!
This is one of the best parts of the day: photos with the bride and groom right after the ceremony, capturing that sweet, just married feeling.
I've known Shelby for a number of years, and let me tell you: never has her smile been more joyful than when she's with Ben.
Isn't it funny how just looking at photos of Shelby and Ben you can tell how suited they are for each other? They're just the perfect match!
Brides, it will always be my goal to get a shot of your groom that makes your knees weak.
Finally it was time to for the bride and groom to eat, drink, and be merry!! But not before I grabbed some shots of their dreamy front yard reception details!
Shelby and Ben's first dance was like a movie. Lit by string lights and moonlight, they danced their first dance as husband and wife.
Okay so right before Shelby and Ben were going to leave, the sprinklers suddenly turned on where everyone was dancing!! So like any good bridal party, instead of fleeing the scene, a few stayed to brave the streams of water, and I have to say, these are some of my favorite shots of they day!
But we couldn't play in the sprinklers forever because the newly weds had to make their sparkler exit! I just loooove this photo of Shelby's mom. Isn't she precious?!
