on the days when you forget
and fear is louder than your faith
when your wondering is endless
and the resounding need cries in your ear
a tiny truth will anchor your soul
a small thing, beautiful and unfolding
look outside the cavern of your fret
look outside, look.
my jasmine is blooming
a heavenly aroma, a cluster of tiny buds.
for months it’s been growing,
an emerald scarf adorning an old chainlink fence
are the flowers confused? did they get lost in seasons?
who ever heard of jasmine to bloom in October?
i look outside and i see they bloom for me
a lovely Gardener put them there
He sent me flowers in October
when i consider the flowers,
they don’t toil, they don’t spin
but there they are, delicate and fair
jasmine blooming in October
how much more will my needs be met
if you care so much to give me flowers in October?
no more will i fear and fret
you give me flowers in October
