Back in May, amongst all that scattered flash flooding in Central Texas, I took Drake's senior pictures at one of my favorite green belt spots. It rained until about an hour before our shoot, when finally the skies opened up with some friendly clouds and patches of blue. It made for an adventurous afternoon what with dodging puddles and finding caves freshly dripping with runoff. Even the animals were out to make the day memorable. As we were walking underneath trees, suddenly a squirrel falls from above, missing Drake by inches, and hits the ground, squeak-shrieks, and darts off to another tree. For all the compassionate hearted animal people like me, he was fine. I think the shriek was more out of embarrassment, as I believe squirrels are quite proud of their ability to leap from branch to branch without any mishaps.
It was a great day for photos, and Drake and I had a grand time. Drake has a great heart: he loves to serve others and is always willing to humbly take a job that is behind the scenes. He will be heading to A&M Corpus in the fall with ambitions and talents as mighty as the height from which our squirrel friend fell. :)
